My current skincare faves!
Over the past few months, I have really struggled with my skin. The constant dry weather along with my sensitive combination skin just caused breakout after breakout after breakout. I didn't know how to improve my skin so I decided to strip it right down to basics. Now I currently only use a cleanser, serum and moisturiser. Through all my experimentation with skincare, I've found that listening to your skin is the MOST important thing to do. If it's dry, you give it a bit of moisturiser. If it's oily, you cleanse your skin twice instead of once. If your skin is breaking out, you can put some tea trea oil on it.
My skincare routine is so basic, simple and natural. It consists of 3 sometimes 4 steps:
1. Cleanse ~ I use Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. I put 2 pea - sized blobs of cleanser on my finger and I gently massage the cleanser into my skin for about a minute. Then I either use a flannel with cold water to wash it all off or I rinse my face with my hands until all of the cleanser is removed. It's so gentle and moisturising but it does a really great job of removing my makeup and all the oil and dirt off my face.
2. Serum ~ I then apply The Body Shop's tea tree anti - imperfection solution by taking three drops of it and evenly distributing it around my face whilst being careful to avoid my eyes. I then use my fingers to press the serum into my skin.
Sometimes if my skin is normal (not dry or breaking out), I then leave my skin like that. However, sometimes when my skin cries for more I either:
3. Moisturise ~ I use Nivea's Pure and Natural Regenerating Night Cream and I take a pea - sized amount of the moisturiser and like the serum I evenly distribute across my face and then press it into the skin using my fingers. As my face is quite oily, I generally don't use a lot.
4. Apply tea tree oil ~ I use Thursday Plantation's Tea Tree oil and pour a few drops onto a cotton pad which I then use to swipe my t - zone and other areas where I am either acne prone or have acne such as near my temples.
