A mini NYX review
Just wanted to start off by thanking everyone for their support and encouragement. If you could please continue to share my blog that would be amazing!
Recently, during the Easter Weekend, I was able to get my hands on a NYX show bag from the Royal Easter Show which is held in Sydney. The price was very reasonable with quite a lot of products. To be honest, I have never actually explored the brand NYX before but I have heard a lot of really good things about the brand. I have been trying and testing all of these products since then and I thought I'd share some of my thoughts and views about these products.
Let's start with the NYX 'Stay Matte But Not Flat' powder foundation. It is a light coverage pressed powder that claims to smooth out the skin and give a flawless look. This powder is really good at giving a natural airbrushed look and also really great at keeping my make up oil free as I tend to get oily quite easily. However, if you are looking for a foundation that will cover up your blemishes and imperfections I wouldn't recommend this foundation as the coverage would be too light. I find that using a dense brush and gently pressing it in to the skin gives me the best results. If you have oily skin and you're looking for a powder to keep you matte at a low price I would highly recommend this product.
I have also recently been loving the NYX 'Pro Lip Cream Palette' in the shade 'The Pinks'. I love using this palette as cream blushes. They are not too creamy that they are sliding off the face but they're also not so dry and stiff that they are hard to blend. They are also quite pigmented so you don't have to spend a lot of time building up colour on the cheeks. However, as a lip palette, it is not my personal favourite as I prefer matte lipsticks. This is based on personal preference because I am quite clumsy and messy so I find that cream lipsticks go all over my face where as matte lipsticks don't budge. For me personally this is not my favourite product but if lipsticks and lip cream products are your thing I think it would be worth checking it out.
One of my favourite products from this showbag is the NYX 'Matte Bronzer'. It gives a really natural bronzey warmth to the face which is really nice as a bit of subtle contouring for the face. The shade of the bronzer is also not too warm so that the face doesn't look muddy and also not too cool which makes your face look a bit grey. It is not too pigmented so it is easy to blend and work with but also doesn't take too many layers to build up enough bronzer on the face to create the desired result. This is great because it means that you can adjust the level of warmth to the face by putting more or less product on your face. I would highly recommend if you're a natural make up person like me!
Also one of my favourite products is the NYX 'Brow Mascara'. It helps build up really nice full fluffy brow hairs and gives a natural filled in look. My only issue with this product is that the wand is quite big so it is hard to get accurate application. I usually either use concealer or micellar water to clean up some of the product that has smeared as a result of the wand.
I also have really been enjoying using the NYX 'slim eye and eyebrow pencil' in the shade 902 Brown. It is a really great liner for the upper lid and waterline. On lazy days I love messily lining my upper eyelid and blending out to create a more natural definition. It is a creamy liner which is pigmented and really easy to apply. Would highly recommend it for anyone who wants a good brown pencil liner. However, I personally don't really like it as a brow pencil as it isn't precise enough and the brown is too warm.
This NYX 'Prismatic Shadows' in the shade Smoke & Mirrors is a great pigmented glittery eye shadow. It works the best with a finger and wet with a makeup spray. It does require a bit of building up but it is great for someone who want varying levels of pigment in an eye shadow. The only down fall to this product is a find it quite a hard shade to wear and there is quite a lot of fall out so I would recommend being quite careful with this product. However, this is definitely a very smooth eye shadow that isn't patchy and blends quite well so if you're looking for a dark glittery eye shadow I would definitely recommend this!
Last but not least we have the NYX 'Glam Liner Aqua - Luxe Collection' in the shade Glam Lagoon. This eyeliner is very pigmented and the application brush has the perfect balance between stiff and flexible to make control really easy. However, as soon as it was applied it really burnt my eyes. This is really disappointing because it is such a great eyeliner and it is so pretty but just doesn't react well with my eyes.
Anyways, hope you enjoyed that. Also please do comment or message me with how you feel about the posts that I put up and what you want to see because I really do want to know what you guys enjoy reading about! I will hopefully have a chatty post for you guys soon!
